Irene has earned the titles of Certified Traveler Counselor (CTC) and Master Cruise Counselor (MCC.) The Certified Travel Counselor designation is awarded by the Institute of Certified Travel Agents (ICTA), and it signifies the pinnacle of travel industry professionalism. Certified Travel Counselors must possess at least five years of full-time travel industry experience, are required to complete 12 courses and must earn ten continuing education credits each year to maintain their designation. The Master Cruise Counselor (MCC) title is a special recognition awarded only to those agents who develop extensive cruise industry knowledge and superior cruise planning skills. The Master Cruise Counselor designation is awarded by the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) and it is the most prestigious credential in the cruising industy. Irene is also a Certified Sandals Specialist (CSS), giving her clients easy access to all-inclusive vacations at ten of the worlds most idyllic tropical resorts.

Irene has always enjoyed planning vacations for her family and friends. In 1994, she decided to begin travel planning professionally and started working as an independent contractor at a small Dallas travel agency. Irene has received additional training in specialized travel planning for Australia, New Zealand, Spain, small ships cruising and gay and lesbian travel.
